Finding a Therapist can sometimes feel daunting, even overwhelming.  Trying to find the right fit when you only have a few lines and a picture to go by feels a bit like gambling.  However, Paul is a big believer in listening to your instincts and that when you are open to healing, you will somehow be directed to where you need to be.

Paul has been a Registered Social Worker for over 20 years and has worked in multiple fields including child protection, children’s mental health, senior care, and medical social work.  For the last 8 year he has been a trauma-informed therapist working with individuals struggling with grief, loss, depression, anxiety, and stress.  Paul knows first hand that many of us have been touched by trauma in some way, and he strives to create a safe space for individuals to feel supported through their healing journey.

Paul’s emphasis while working with someone is always about establishing the therapeutic relationship, which means helping them to feel safe, comfortable, and supported. Although so many of us present with challenges in the moment, Paul often finds that looking across the full spectrum of our lifespan helps us to discover themes and patterns, many of which began in our early childhood and youth.  These themes and patterns seem to find a way of re-occurring until we identify them, and then find strategies that work for us to counter them.  Sometimes it is simply the need to heal from something long ago that we have been avoiding, but inevitably it shaped who we are today.

Remember that you are strong and reaching out for support proves this.  After all, no matter who we are, everyone needs someone to help them, even if only for a little while.

In a world that is becoming increasingly complicated every day, therapy is a safe space away from the pressures of daily life where you can explore your concerns without judgement. I aim to provide an environment where we can explore what is bothering you as a team and find solutions in a way that is appropriate and comfortable for you.

I have been a qualified Social Worker for nearly a decade and in that time have worked with people of all ages from a diverse range of backgrounds. In this time I have come to believe that the key to therapy lies in the relationship between you and your therapist. I will help explore to the concerns that have brought you to therapy, and will take your lead on where we go from there. If you wish to explore your past and discover the experiences that have brought you to where you are, we can do that. If you wish to focus on making active changes in the here and now, we can do that as well (and there is always room for a combination of both). Therapy is about YOUR journey and I consider it my honour to help guide you on that path as best I can.

I draw from a range of therapies including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy but my main guiding principles come from the Strengths-Based perspective. I believe above all that YOU are the expert in your own life and that I am merely here to help you on your road to self-actualization.

You alone can open the door to a brighter future, but I am here to help you find the key.

Christina believes that we all dream to live lives of more and lives of less. More: happiness, peace, joy, health, achieving meaningful goals, and joy in relationships. The opposite is also true, we seek lives with less. Less: stress, illness, negativity, pain, bad relationship habits, trauma, anger, and disconnection. Are you one of millions of 1st generation Canadians trapped between 2 worlds? Is it time to create your own life? Do you experience Anxiety, depression, maternal loss/fertility struggles, growing up “fine but feeling empty”, or loveless parenting–all of which can hold you back or instill panic. Small steps can feel overwhelming.

In therapy, Christina will explore new strategies to fine tune how you: relate to your partner, your family, how you parent–how you handle your own parents–and how you care for your mental health. As a previous Midwife, Christina approaches her work with an attachment-based lens. This helps her clients hold the work of processing pains while making brave steps forward to creating the new.

Christina’s clinical expertise lie in: 1. EMDR (to eliminate negative core beliefs, or triggers and trauma). 2. Adult children of narcissistic parents. 3. Child therapy, specifically: trauma and adopted/foster children & their caregivers. 4. Teaching DBT skills for emotional dysregulation and coping. 5.
